Pull on the cape, friend. Issue one starts tonight.
Spectaculars is a boxed superhero tabletop RPG from Scratchpad Publishing, designed by Rodney Thompson. Your group builds its own comic-book universe, then plays the campaign as a series of issues run by a Narrator, each about two to three hours long. It's made for minimal prep, with quick hero creation from archetypes and team roles, and over 50 scenarios across four genre series pads, from Clash Among the Stars to Streetlight Knights. Rolls use percentile dice, with advantage and challenge dice adding boons and drawbacks. Great for groups who love comics and want to start playing fast.
Gobgob's favourite bit: Powers and identities are drawn at random from their own decks, so nobody knows quite who their hero is until the cards decide. Gobgob is still hoping for flight.
📖 Boxed set: 60-page rulebook, 60-page setting book, 4 series pads, Deck of Powers (105 cards), Deck of Identities (85 cards), Deck of Complications (40 cards), 8 team role cards, 52 initiative cards, a hero progress pad, 7 sets of percentile dice, 4 advantage and 4 challenge dice, 6 plastic player trays and a token sheet.

Borrowing by post
Members anywhere in New Zealand can borrow by post. Postal swaps go out every Thursday. The cutoff is Wednesday 10pm for Thursday delivery.
Postage out is charged at our normal website shipping rates, and you pay to post games back to us.
Missing pieces and damage
Check the box when you borrow it. If a piece is missing, tell us at the counter so it isn't charged to you.
Pieces that go missing or get damaged while a game is with you can be charged up to the game's RRP, unless our staff waive it. Normal wear and tear is fine. The full details are in the library terms.
