No rearranging your hand. Gobgob is still recovering.

Scout is a clever little climbing card game from Oink Games, designed by Kei Kajino. Every card has two numbers, and you are not allowed to rearrange your hand, only flip the whole thing upside down at the start of the round. On your turn, play a set or run from next-door cards in your hand that beats the one on the table, or scout: take a card from the end of it and slide it anywhere into your hand to build something better. It was nominated for the Spiel des Jahres in 2022, and the whole thing fits in a pocket-sized box.

Gobgob's favourite bit: Scouting. Stealing one card off someone's play hands them a point, but slotting it into exactly the right gap in your hand to set up a monster run feels brilliant.
